SEZ Rugby - U55kg

The under 55kg rugby team took part in the South Eastern Zone Rugby Tournament held at Pakuranga Rugby Club on Wednesday 19th June.

Our first game of the day was against Pakuranga Intermediate. Although a little rusty to begin with, the boys ran away with the game and won 38-0. 

The next pool game was a lot tougher against a very well drilled and skilful St Kentigern’s team. Unfortunately, our team made too many ball handling mistakes and St Kentigern’s won 24-7.
Playing Sacred Heart next we knew that we had to improve in order to get the win. The boys played very well and after a tough start won 17-7. With their confidence up, the team ran away with the next game against Beachlands winning 37-0.

Our final game of the day was against a very good team from Farm Cove Intermediate. After conceding the first try, our boys fought back and played outstanding rugby to win convincingly
29-14. 

Overall, it was a good tournament and 3rd place is a great result. The team lost one game and won four. The boys displayed excellent sportsmanship and played terrific rugby. Every one of them are talented players and played a part in helping us have a successful tournament.
