Showquest 2024

On Thursday 13th June, 83 talented Somerville Students competed in New Zealand's biggest performing arts competition, "Showquest". The performance was centered around the theme of resilience. Research shows that resilience is one of eight core abilities that drive successful children. We developed a performance that tried to capture the depth of relationships in families, fears that our students have to overcome and what they need from themselves and the adults in their lives to become resilient and take risks. Below is our blurb.

The day was very successful. We had meetings, stage rehearsals, a silent disco by ZM, games and lots of prep. Students also had the opportunity to watch some really fantastic performances by other schools. After five months of preparation and rehearsals, our students really shone as they took to the stage. A really thrilling experience for all involved.

In the awards ceremony we achieved:
Second place
Best live artists
Best drama
Highly commended theme.

To view the performance, head to Youtube and type in 'Showquest 2024 - Somerville Intermediate'. It should be up in a few days.
