East Auckland Intermediate Chess Tournament

Congratulations to our Somerville chess team who competed at the East Auckland Intermediate Chess Tournament held on Wednesday 22 May at Somerville Intermediate School. The five players competed against students from King’s College, Howick Intermediate, Bucklands Beach Intermediate and Elim College.

Daqi M and Oscar C both scored an impressive 6 out of 6 to claim Board 1 and Board 2 winners respectively and with the support of Anoji K, Harvey Z and Linson Y, secured first place in the overall competition. An amazing result - Well done!

This result has qualified the team to play at the National Finals in Wellington later this year.
