Howick Fun Run & Walk
On Sunday 24 March, 18 Somerville students woke up bright and early to participate in the Rotary Howick Fun Run and Walk. It was a brisk morning and the clouds were hovering nearby.
The race kicked off at 9.00 am with the ‘Elite runners’ and as always, it was great to see some very familiar faces in the front row, with some ex Somerville students. Next the intermediate runners were released, followed by the primary runners and finally the casual runners.
The first Somerville runner to cross the finish line (and the second runner overall) was Jake S for the second year in a row, followed by Dongwook L in 3rd overall and Callum W, 4th overall. Close on their heels came Amber B in 6th place and Ben De D in 7th. We were very excited when we heard that there were a close group of Somerville runners approaching the finish line. Thanks to their effort we were able to claim the Howick Fun Run Trophy for the sixth time!
The students represented the school well with a couple of them also choosing to run the adult route of 8.1km. We were very proud of how they conducted themselves and we all had a great time!
