Year 7 Swimming Sports

Despite an overcast and drizzly start, the excitement and enthusiasm of our Year 7 students shone through at this year’s swimming sports. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their swimming skills, while enjoying a day of friendly competition and fun.

With a strong turnout in each stroke, the day kicked off with timed heats to determine the top eight swimmers for the finals. These races were packed with energy, making for an exhilarating conclusion to the day.

For those less inclined toward competitive swimming, the Whānau fun width races offered a great way to cool off, while supporting their whānau teams. The cheers and encouragement from the sidelines added to the vibrant atmosphere.

A huge congratulations to all participants, especially those who secured top positions in their events. Our highest-performing swimmers will go on to represent Somerville Intermediate School at the upcoming South Eastern Zone competition—we wish them the best of luck!

Well done to everyone who took part—you made the day a truly memorable one!  Below are the results of the top four finishers in each event:

The final whānau points were as follows:
Year 7 Whānau Points
1st: Ruapehu
2nd: Aoraki
3rd: Rangitoto
4th: Kawarau
