STEAM Innovations/ Science Fair
The STEAM Innovations/Science Fair is an incredible opportunity for Somerville Intermediate students to grow and develop as scientists. Not only do students engage in authentic science by following the Scientific Inquiry Process or the Engineering Design Process, but they also enhance their literacy, numeracy, technology, critical thinking, communication, creativity, collaboration, and self-management skills.
Congratulations to all the students who entered a project this year. It requires a lot of hard work and takes considerable time and effort, and you have all done yourselves proud!
The standard of projects this year has been good, and we would like to thank all students for producing such great work. Well done! Seventy-nine projects have been entered, and of those, 23 have been judged as the best of the Fair.
Special congratulations to the students listed below, and a big thanks to the parents and teachers who supported them along the way.
Over the next few days, Mrs McKenzie, Mrs Duffield, and Ms van As will interview all these students about their projects, to ensure they are competition-ready. Once these projects have been discussed or evaluated, we will then consider which projects will be entered into the NIWA South and East Auckland STEM Fair, to be held at Howick College in August. We wish all these students well and all the best for the judging and their interviews.
Parents can view the projects in the middle of the PAC in between Teacher/Whānau interviews. Be aware that interviews will be conducted in the classrooms on either side of the PAC, so please be considerate when viewing.
