Auckland Champs Swimming

Ten talented swimmers from Somerville Intermediate qualified to compete at the Auckland Champs, held at St Cuthbert's College this week. Among them, Cavan R and Celestine Z put in outstanding performances, making it through to the finals of their events. Cavan showcased his versatility by reaching the finals in the 50m Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke, while Celestine impressed in the 50m Freestyle, Backstroke, and Butterfly. Although they narrowly missed out on a top-three finish, both swimmers placed in the top eight—a fantastic achievement at such a high level of competition.

The highlight of the day came in the final race, the 50m Freestyle Relay, where our Year 7 boys' team put on a stellar performance to secure third place overall.
