Year 8 Swimming Sports
We couldn’t have asked for better weather to kick off our sporting year, with blue skies and sunshine setting the stage for our annual Year 8 Swimming Sports. This event gave all our students the chance to showcase their swimming talents and enjoy a day of competition and fun.
With a large number of participants in each stroke, we started with timed heats to determine the top eight swimmers for the finals. These final races were packed with excitement, making for a thrilling end to the day.
For those less keen on competitive swimming, the Whānau fun width races provided a fantastic way to cool off after an energetic day of cheering on their whānau teammates.
Congratulations to all swimmers, especially those who placed in the top positions in each event. These top competitors will go on to represent Somerville Intermediate School at the upcoming South Eastern Zones competition—we wish them the best of luck!
The event was a great success, with the final whānau points as follows:
Year 8 Whānau Points
1st: Aoraki
2nd: Kawarau & Ruapehu (tie)
3rd: Rangitoto
Well done to all participants for making it such a memorable day!

We are looking forward to our Year 7 Swimming Sports to be held on Thursday this week.
