Judges from Botany Downs Secondary College and Howick College were joined by Pro Rapper, Nicky Smith, to listen to the Somerville Intermediate Rehu Tai finalists on Wednesday 16 August. The judges were impressed with the standard of the speeches presented and congratulated everyone on their performances.
The following students presented a 3 minute speech: Mitchell E, Ziva H, Adi S, Danielle K, Joshua H, Sam V and Saoirse B. From these finalists, Mitchell E and Joshua H received Highly Commended awards. Adi S was selected to represent Somerville Intermediate at the APPA Rehu Tai Cluster Finals.
The following students presented a Spoken Word: Charlotte B, Ava K, Alexa B, Olivia M, Ruby K. From these finalists, Charlotte B received a Highly Commended award. Ava K was selected to represent Somerville Intermediate at the APPA Rehu Tai Cluster Finals.
The following students presented a Rap: Bella V, Ben de B and Zane R. From these finalists, Ben de B was selected to represent Somerville Intermediate at the APPA Rehu Tai Cluster Finals.
The following students presented a Flash Talk: James H, Muhammed S, Harvey P, Clara G and Autumn A. From these finalists, James H was selected to represent Somerville Intermediate at the APPA Rehu Tai Cluster Finals.
The APPA Rehu Tai Cluster Finals were held on Monday 21 August, where Ava K was awarded first place in the Spoken Word and James H was awarded first place in the Flash Talk category. They will both go on to represent Somerville at the APPA Rehu Tai Finals in Term 4.
