Girls

On Thursday 30th March, the Somerville girls' cricket team competed in the South Eastern Zone girls cricket competition.
We started the day off by doing a quick warm up before playing our first match against Howick Intermediate, which we won. We then played BBI and this was our closest game, losing by only 3 runs. Our final game from our pool was against St John's, which we also won. This meant we had made our way into the semi final.

In our second to last game, we played a tough match against Mission Heights, which sadly, we lost. Next we were up against St Kents which was close, but sadly we lost by a few runs, putting our team into 4th place overall.

We would like to thank Miss Naidoo and Millar O for all their hard work and giving up their lunch times to train us. We had loads of fun!

Boys

The Somerville boys' cricket team has reason to celebrate after achieving 3rd place at the SEZ tournament held in Term 1. The team showed great resilience, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

One of the most memorable moments of the tournament was the nail-biting match against BBI, which came down to the last ball. The BBI team held their nerve and pulled off a stunning victory, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats.

Contributions from Caleb A, Millar O, and Bowen B-S were also crucial to the team's success. Caleb A and Millar O's batting prowess and fielding skills, and Bowen B-S's all-round contributions, were integral in securing victories throughout the tournament.

We are incredibly proud of the Somerville cricket team's performance and congratulate them on their achievement. They've represented the school with the utmost professionalism and have set the bar high for future teams. Well done!
