On Monday 1st May, Somerville Intermediate School students participated in the Chess Power Auckland East Cluster Tournament, held on campus.

The team achieved a perfect score of 28 out of 28 points against Sancta Maria College and Mission Heights Junior College. Four students, Grishma K, Tracy T, Arush G, and Anson L, emerged undefeated and secured automatic entry into the Chess Power Champion's Trophy Nationals. Six out of seven team members were awarded a distinction certificate for their remarkable performance. After tie-breaker/s between Grishma K, Tracy T, Anson L, and Arush G, Grishma K took first place overall, with Tracy T in second and Anson L in third. The team will now compete in the Auckland Regionals in Term 3.
