Over the past six weeks, we have had 17 students racing around on a Tuesday afternoon, with map in hand, as they competed in the Auckland School Orienteering Sprint Series.

Hosted by CMOC, the students galloped through various local school grounds (rain or shine) to register their arrivals at markers as quickly as possible. Unsurprisingly, the series is growing in popularity as a place for all skill levels from novice first-time map readers, to those more competitive folk with some experience and a need for speed.

It was great to see our students grow in confidence and self-management over the course of the series.  They represented the school with pride.

Special mention to Kade McL (Y8 Boys) who came 1st overall in his first ever try at orienteering! Serenity C (Y7 Girls) finished 2nd overall and was always on hand to help her fellow club mates with administrative tasks at the finish line. Noah H (Y7 Boys), as well as Kylie P and Gabby P (Y7 Girls), finished off their first series placing Top 10.

Well done to everyone who took part! We look forward to seeing your progress next year.
