On Wednesday 15 March, the Somerville Intermediate Swimming team competed at the South Eastern Zone swimming competition. Somerville Intermediate had a team of 26 swimmers, with all students competing well in their events. The squad managed to place in several of the heats.

Of particular merit, are the following swimmers' results from the finals:

Year 7 
Ashley L was 2nd in 50m Freestyle, 2nd in 50m Backstroke and 2nd in 50m Breaststroke. Kento W was 1st in 50m Freestyle, 1st in 50m Backstroke, 3rd in 50m Breaststroke, 1st in 50m Open Butterfly and 1st in 100m Freestyle. 

Year 8
Kevin L was 3rd in 50m Freestyle, 2nd in 50m Backstroke, 2nd in 50m Breaststroke and 3rd in 100m Freestyle.

In addition to these individual performances, our relay squads also competed exceptionally well. Our Year 7 boys Freestyle team placed 3rd, the boys mixed age IM relay team placed 2nd, year 7 girls Freestyle team placed 2nd, year 8 girls Freestyle placed 3rd and the girls mixed age IM relay team placed 3rd.
A huge congratulations to all participants, it was a fantastic day with the team supporting each throughout the day. Well done to everyone!


Inter Zone Championship 

Special mention must be made of Kevin L and Ashley L, who swam at the Inter Zone Swimming competition at the West Wave Aquatic Centre on Wednesday 22 March. Ashley qualified for the finals of the 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke events. Well done to our swimmers, we are proud of your achievements.
