After three years of not being able to hold our School Swimming Sports, and after the unexpected shaky start of a school year with Cyclone Gabrielle, we were incredibly blessed with a beautiful sunny day on Friday 17 February, for our Year 7 Swimming Sports.
We were fortunate that the weather held out again for our Year 8 Swimming Sports on Monday 27 February. Both of these events were held at the 50m outdoor pool in Papatoetoe.
The days were run with a large number of timed heats, which then produced finalists, with some very close races between competitors. In addition to this, there was also the House “Fun Width Races”.
A big thank you to our amazing staff and parent helpers who ensured the smooth running of both the heats and the finals.
Congratulations to all the swimmers, in particular those who placed in the top places in each event. These swimmers will represent Somerville Intermediate School at the South Eastern Zone competition on Wednesday 15 March.
