On Wednesday 22 June, 3 teams of 4 students in both Year 7 and 8, as well as one boy's team of 4, went to Howick Gymnastics Club to compete in the SEZ competition.

Twisters:
The day started with a big warm up with all the other competitors. Then we went around to each apparatus performing our routines in front of the judges. We had some amazing results! From the Year 8 girls, we had Olivia T and Alpha S in =8th and Lucia W in 2nd. In Year 7 girls, we had Olivia A =8th, Violet P in 6th, Olivia PG in =4th, Emersyn C finished 3rd and Jessica Y placed 1st and is now the SEZ champion!
We also had some incredible team results with the Year 8 team of Olivia T, Lucia W, Olivia PG and Lara vB, scoring enough points to gain third place.
The top Year 7 team (Rivyn B, Jessica Y, Olivia PG, and Olivia A) came first place, with the second Year 7 team (Amani R, Violet P, Addison B, Emersyn C) finishing in second place!
This means all of these 13 people qualified for Auckland Champs to be held in Term 3.

Competitive:
The competitive gymnasts also competed on the same day. Once we got there, the competitive people (Abby vB, Chelsea B, Louis Z, Nathan L, Matthew G and Ryan H) helped everyone with the warm up. When 12:30 pm hit and we had finished warming up, we showed our routines to the judges. We once again had some amazing results! In the Open Junior Advanced boys, Louis Z came first place and in the Open Junior Advanced girls we had Chelsea B also finishing in first place! In the Open Junior Level 2 and 3, Nathan L came 1st and Ryan Henry came 2nd.

Overall we had an amazing experience doing gymnastics and competing in the routines! We would never have accomplished this without our amazing coaches Jo Van Der Mescht and Lorraine Nicholls! We are very excited for the Auckland Champs next term!
