(Revised School Holiday dates: 30 March - 14 April 2020)

At midnight tonight (Wednesday 25 March) the country moves to Alert Level 4. Schools are now closed. All school updates related to COVID-19 can be found on this page.

Information about ways to foster student wellbeing can be found on our website: Student Wellbeing. Below there is some information on how students can maintain physical activity.

Please note: The school holiday break has been brought forward. The school holidays are now from Monday 30 March to Tuesday 14 April (inclusive). Please take this time to relax and enjoy quality time with your children.

Teachers will continue to provide online learning until this Friday. Online learning will re-commence on Wednesday 15 April and will continue until the government re-opens schools.

As previously communicated, Somerville Intermediate is well-placed to deliver online learning to students. Lessons will be delivered through Google Classroom and/or a Google site. Classroom and Aspiring Centre teachers will maintain teacher/student connections by checking in with each student at least twice a week to see how they are progressing with their learning. Class and Aspiring teachers will be available from 10.00am – 12.00pm, Monday to Friday for questions and clarifications about learning programmes.

In addition, specialist teachers will provide theory-based lessons via Google Classroom and/or a Google Site. They will schedule at least one conferencing session with their specialist groups at  least once week. This may be through Google Hangout Meet, Flipgrid or another suitable online conferencing platform. A tutorial on Google Hangout Meet can be found here: Google Hangout Meet Tutorial and a Flipgrid tutorial can be found by following this link: Flipgrid Tutorial. Specialist teachers will be available from 2.00pm – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday for questions and clarifications about their learning programmes.

Everything you need to know about COVID-19 can be found on the official government site: COVID-19. We all need to be mindful that we have a responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe. I will email any critical information if the need arises.

All the best to you and your loved ones during this challenging time.
