The bang and clatter of kitchen utensils and the whizzing of the smoothie machine could be heard.

The temperature of the ovens fired up high on fan bake could be felt. The delicious aromas of ham, bacon, pepperoni, pineapple, stringy mozzarella and the secret Italian pizza dough baking were wafting down "The Street"!!! Amazing music was echoing out of the cafe from the Somerville Street Buskers. These were the sounds and smells of the grand re-opening of Kawhe Hui.

Our team of chefs, waiters and kitchen hands were all working frantically to serve twenty diners who came for lunch at Kawhe Hui on Friday May 18. We felt a sense of joy and achievement as we saw smiles of contentment on their faces and read their positive feedback. It was a very successful grand re-opening.

Kawhe Hui is a MEETING CAFE where the students, staff and parents in our school community can MEET-EAT-DRINK-RELAX over lunch. We serve a range of rustic (plain and simple but delicious) pizza meals. Each pizza meal comes with a complimentary side of your choice of carrot sticks, green salad or seasonal fruit. You can add kumara or potato oven baked fries and sugar free drinks to your meal, if you wish. We also have 'blackboard specials'!
