On Wednesday 8th November, a book launch was held at Ellerslie Racecourse to celebrate the release of the 2017 Barfoot & Thompson Young Authors Challenge Storybook.

A HUGE congratulations goes to Juliet Curwood from Room 5, who managed to beat over 2,000 entries, to be named the supreme winner for this year's competition. Her winning story 'Holy Cookie Jar' took pride of place as the cover story in the published book, alongside the other nine winning stories. Her story was brought to life through the illustrations of All Black, Keven Mealamu. Original artworks from the illustrators were auctioned off on the night, and we were lucky enough to secure one of Keven's illustrations, to be displayed in our school library. All proceeds from the night and ongoing sales of the book go towards the Starship Foundation.

The book, 'Triumphs, Twists and Tasty Treats', is available to be purchased for $20 from www.barfoot.co.nz/storybook
