During the course of Term 3, as part of celebrating Languages week, our school participated in various International Languages speech competitions, which included Korean, Mandarin, Afrikaans, Cantonese and Hindi.

We held the language speech finals at school to obtain a winner to represent our school at the various zone finals.

Congratulations and well done to all our finalists:

Iris Arora, Room 1, won the Hindi speech finals at Somerville and went on to represent our school at the Hindi zone final and was placed second. Her speech was on "Gender Equality".

Coco Ma from Room 14 won the Mandarin speech finals at Somerville and represented our school at the Mandarin zone final.

Shawn Park from Room 6 was the Korean speech finalist.

Calantha Lei from Room 15 won the Cantonese speech competition.

We also had some very exciting Afrikaans speeches. The competition was tight with Danishe Deysel, Room 29, coming in first place and runners up were Micaela Scholtz, Room 2, and Ja'dene Higgs, Room 10.

Participants spoke eloquently and with great passion and humour, on a variety of topics. We are extremely proud of all our International language speech finalists who represented our school superbly.
