South Eastern Zone
Around 30 students represented Somerville at the SEZ Cross Country tournament which was held on Tuesday 15 August at St Kentigern College. Despite the wet weather, we had some great results. Congratulations to the following students who finished in the top 10 places for their category and will now go on to represent Somerville at the Interzone competition in September.

On Thursday 7 September, 6 students went to the Interzone Cross Country tournament. The categories entered were Year 7 Boys, Year 8 Girls and Year 8 Boys.

The day started off reasonably well with some showers making the ground wet and soggy. The Year 7 boys' race started on time and our runners were Shay Dawson and Josh Capper. They ran hard and Josh came in at 34th and Shay Dawson at 63rd.

The Year 8 girls were next, with Brooke Conover and Shreeya Daji representing Somerville. Brooke was in the top group for most of the race and came in at 12th (significantly improving from last year) and Shreeya came in at 49th.

Finally it was time for the Year 8 boys. There had been a number of showers throughout the day and the course was now very muddy and slippery. Representing Somerville were Will and Josh Holland. They ran a terrific race, with Will placing 1st and Josh not far behind in 8th place.

Overall it was a great day. The students ran through the mud and in the rain, and did their very best!
