On Wednesday 5 July, 30 students from our school attended the Incredible Science Day at Auckland University.

This was an exciting, educational and fun filled day for Intermediate students and a fantastic opportunity for them to learn about the wonder and wide diversity of science in the Faculty of Science. It will hopefully encourage them to think about future study in the field of science and to think about science as a career.

They experienced the magic of chemistry, the marvels of physics and the beauty of mathematical shapes and patterns. They saw cool rocks and fossils, talked about the ocean and the creatures who live there, entered the dark room to see and learn about fluorescent proteins, met a robot and were amazed by the displays of computer scientists.

The Chemistry Magic Show was one of the many highlights of the day, as was the miniature tornado and the forensic science fingerprinting activity.
